Head out with a guide in an open safari vehicle and spot wildlife using night beams provided by your lodge.<\/li>\n<li><strong data-start=\"344\" data-end=\"369\">Boat trip on the lake<\/strong><br data-start=\"369\" data-end=\"372\" \/>While it may not be the most scenic boat ride in Uganda, it\u2019s a great warm-up for your trip. Look out for hippos, lizards, crocodiles, and the iconic fish eagles soaring above.<\/li>\n<li><strong data-start=\"513\" data-end=\"542\">Walking or cycling safari<\/strong><br data-start=\"542\" data-end=\"545\" \/>Explore the bush on foot or by bike with a local guide. From there, it\u2019s just 15 minutes before your first glimpse of the lake.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"237\" data-end=\"394\"><strong data-start=\"521\" data-end=\"551\">To Lake Mutanda or Rushaga<\/strong>: Pass through Kabale, where you\u2019ll find a petrol station, ATM, and lunch spots like <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/ScVkCZmRTDB5hPTf6\" target=\"_blank\">The Gathering Place<\/a> or <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com\/Restaurant_Review-g673829-d23775675-Reviews-Safari_Diners_Choma_Restaurant_And_Cafe-Kabale_Western_Region.html\" target=\"_blank\">Safari Diners Choma Restaurant<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"700\" data-end=\"862\"><strong data-start=\"700\" data-end=\"714\">Important!<\/strong><br data-start=\"714\" data-end=\"717\">Google Maps might suggest turning off at Muko to reach Mutanda or Rushaga &#8211; don\u2019t do it. It\u2019s shorter on paper but slower and rougher in reality.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"864\" data-end=\"874\">Instead, first plot\u00a0Kisoro town on Google Maps. Then, from Kisoro, navigate to your final stop:\u00a0Lake Mutanda or Rushaga.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"864\" data-end=\"874\"><strong data-start=\"1000\" data-end=\"1017\">Final stretch<\/strong><br data-start=\"1017\" data-end=\"1020\">From Kisoro to Lake Mutanda is an adventurous dirt road through the Kigezi Highlands. This scenic route passes through multiple tea plantations and rolling hills.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"279\" data-end=\"298\"><strong data-start=\"279\" data-end=\"298\">Suggested stops along the way<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"279\" data-end=\"298\"><strong data-start=\"302\" data-end=\"324\">Kyansama viewpoint<\/strong><br data-start=\"324\" data-end=\"327\">Plot it in Google Maps for a breathtaking view over the national park.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"279\" data-end=\"298\"><strong data-start=\"403\" data-end=\"421\">Kyambura Gorge<\/strong><br data-start=\"421\" data-end=\"424\">Take a short detour to admire the gorge. Want to hike through it? You might spot habituated chimpanzees \u2014 if you&#8217;re lucky! <strong data-start=\"553\" data-end=\"562\">Note:<\/strong> This trek must be booked in advance via Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). This scenic route passes through multiple tea plantations and rolling hills.<\/p>\n<p>When arriving at Ntungamo, follow the road to Rukungiri<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"726\" data-end=\"801\"><strong data-start=\"726\" data-end=\"742\">Fuel &amp; cash:<\/strong> Available in Kabale.
