Lake Kivu \/ Gisenyi<\/h2>\n

In western Rwanda, along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, lies Lake Kivu, Rwanda\u2019s largest of its many scenic lakes.<\/h4>\n

Being here feels like you’re in an inland sea – surrounded by volcanic islands and lined with sandy beaches, terraced hills, and fishing villages.       <\/strong>Rent your gear at Minazi Cove Beach Club and paddle along the shoreline.<\/li>\n
    • Take a boat cruise to Nyamirundi Island
      <\/strong>Visit the coffee plantation and learn how Rwanda\u2019s famous beans are grown, harvested, and roasted.<\/li>\n
    • Go fishing
      <\/strong>Lake Kivu is home to around 30 species of fish. It\u2019s a great spot for sport fishing.<\/li>\n
    • Hike or bike the Congo Nile Trail

      A smooth asphalt road takes you from Lake Kivu to Kigali, the capital of Rwanda (also known as the Land of a Thousand Hills)<\/em>. Enjoy the scenic drive as you make your way into the city.<\/p><\/div>\n\t <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

      Approx. 3.5 hours | 112 km<\/strong><\/p>\n

      You\u2019ll cross into Uganda at the Cyanika border. Once in Uganda, remember to drive on the left.<\/p>\n

      1. First, plot the Cyanika border<\/li>\n
      2. Then Kisoro town<\/li>\n
      3. Finally, your end destination (Lake Mutanda or Bwindi)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        This avoids being sent down slower, rougher shortcuts.<\/p>\n

        From Kisoro, the road to Lake Mutanda winds through the Kigezi Highlands on an adventurous dirt road. The scenery is spectacular, with blue lakes and steep terraced slopes.<\/p>\n
