Moshi<\/h2>\n

Moshi is a lively town at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, offering stunning views of Africa\u2019s highest peak. It\u2019s the gateway for treks up the mountain, but also a pleasant place to explore on its own. Bustling markets, coffee plantations, and a welcoming local atmosphere make Moshi a town worth wandering. It\u2019s also a popular hub for international volunteers, adding to its cosmopolitan feel.<\/h4><\/div>\n\t <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

    Things to do in Moshi<\/h2> \t

      Chemka Hot Springs<\/strong> \u2013 About 40 km from Moshi lies this lush oasis, also called Kikuletwa<\/em> or Chemka<\/em>. The crystal-clear pools are shaded by fig trees and are perfect for swimming or picnicking. Despite the name (\u201ccooking\u201d), the water is pleasantly warm. Getting there takes approximately 90 minutes: drive via Boma Ng\u2019ombe, then 17 km on a rough track \u2014 go slowly!<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      Coffee tour<\/strong> \u2013 Visit one of the many coffee plantations around Moshi. Learn about cultivation, harvesting, and roasting, and enjoy a tasting. Some tours also include a visit to the local coffee auction.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      Day hikes on Kilimanjaro<\/strong> \u2013 If you\u2019re not trekking to the summit, you can still sample the mountain. Simba Farm and Pink Flamingo Boutique Hotel both offer guided day hikes into the lower slopes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n\t <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

          • From Moshi, head east on the\u00a0A23.<\/li>\n
          • After approximately 30 km, turn right at\u00a0Mount Meru Filling Station onto the B1.<\/li>\n
          • Follow the B1 for 200 km to Mombo.<\/li>\n
          • In Mombo, turn left at\u00a0Usambara Filling Station.<\/li>\n
          • The road then winds uphill into the Usambara Mountains until you reach\u00a0Lushoto.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            On the way<\/strong><\/p>\n

              \n
            • Good tarmac, but expect many speed bumps.<\/li>\n
            • Enjoy the views of sisal plantations and the Pare Mountains on your left.<\/li>\n
            • From Mombo, the climb into the Usambaras offers beautiful scenery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Tip<\/strong><\/p>\n

              • Carry a packed lunch \u2014 there are few places to stop.<\/li>\n
              • If you’d like to stop somewhere,\u00a0Liverpool Hotel in Mombo<\/strong> is a decent option.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n\t <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
