Confirming a booking with Roadtrip Africa signifies that you have read, fully understood, and accepted the terms and conditions outlined below.<\/p>\n

These Terms and Conditions are also translated into Dutch, German and French. In the event of any discrepancy between the different language versions, the English version shall take precedence.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Definitions\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

o \u00a0 \u00a0“RTA” refers to Roadtrip Africa, the travel company registered in the Netherlands.
\no \u00a0 \u00a0“RTU” or “Owner” refers to Roadtrip Uganda Limited, the travel company registered in Uganda.
\no \u00a0 \u00a0“You” or “Hirer” refers to the individual who has signed the Rental Agreement, along with their authorised travel companions included in the agreement.
\no \u00a0 \u00a0“Rental Agreement” refers to this contract between the Hirer and the Owner.
\no \u00a0 \u00a0“Vehicle” refers to the rented car.<\/p>\n

General use of the vehicle<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. The minimum age to rent and drive our vehicles is 23 years old. The Vehicle may only be driven by the Hirer and authorised travel companions. If a driver and\/ or guide is required, RTU will arrange one. The Hirer may not provide their own driver\/guide. Any losses or damages caused by an unauthorised driver are the Hirer’s responsibility.
\n2. The Hirer shall return the Vehicle on the agreed date and time, as specified in your reservation overview. Returns are by 7 PM latest unless the Owner has specifically agreed otherwise. No refunds shall be given for early returns.
\n3. The Hirer must carry a valid driver\u2019s license from their country of residence and\/or an International Driver\u2019s License while driving.
\n4. The Hirer is responsible for paying any fines issued by the traffic police that arise from their driving behaviour.
\n5. The Vehicle is provided with a full fuel tank\u2014petrol for the Toyota RAV4 and the Suzuki Jimny, diesel for the Toyota Land Cruiser and Nissan Navara\u2014and must be returned with a full tank to avoid refuelling charges.
\n6. Only fuel from major stations such as Shell, Total, Hass and Rubis should be used. Never purchase bottled fuel from roadside vendors. Poor-quality fuel can damage the engine.<\/p>\n

Speed limits<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 \u00a0 \u00a080 km\/h on highways. Safari vehicles are classified as trucks due to longer braking distances.
\n\u2022\u00a0 \u00a0 40 – 50 km\/h when driving through towns. Note that the main highway also passes through towns, so be wary of speed limit signs and speed bumps.
\n\u2022 \u00a0 \u00a025 – 40 km\/h in national parks, depending on road conditions and the rules per park. Even 25 km\/h can be too fast on narrow or eroded dirt roads.<\/p>\n

Take note that traffic police in Uganda are very strict about speed limits.<\/p>\n

Restricted areas & recommendations<\/strong><\/p>\n

7. Driving in the dark (before 6:30 AM and after 7:00 PM) is prohibited. If you like to do a night game drive, you can join a guided safari in a vehicle provided by the lodge where you are staying.<\/p>\n

8. Travel to Kidepo National Park and Karamoja is only permitted with a Suzuki Jimny, Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Navara. All roads north of the Pakwach – Lira – Soroti – Mbale are off-limits with an RAV4. If an RAV4 is detected in a restricted area, the Hirer is in breach of contract and fully liable for any costs and loss of the security bond.<\/p>\n

9. Crossing international borders is not allowed without prior written approval from the Owner and additional insurance coverage (COMESA).<\/p>\n

10. Hirers are strongly advised to purchase a local SIM card with airtime and internet for easier communication.<\/p>\n

Vehicle maintenance<\/strong><\/p>\n

11. \u00a0 \u00a0Vehicles are inspected and serviced before rental, and the Hirer will receive the Vehicle in a safe and roadworthy condition. The Hirer must return the Vehicle in the same condition.
\n12. \u00a0 \u00a0The Hirer is responsible for basic maintenance, including checking engine oil, coolant, and tyre pressure. If fluids are depleted, the Hirer covers the costs to replenish them.
\n13. \u00a0 \u00a0If dashboard warning lights appear, consult the driver\u2019s manual. If in doubt, contact RTU. The team in Uganda is available via WhatsApp or telephone 24\/7.
\n14. \u00a0 \u00a0We don\u2019t do field repairs or send a replacement vehicle when a problem occurs with the A\/C or fridge. Wiring and piping are sensitive and suffer from bumpy roads and dust. Sadly, the knowledge and equipment (Frigo gas) to repair A\/C or fridges are unavailable in the field. We understand it’s unfortunate when your fridge stops working. In the rare case this happens, do let us know, and the Roadtrip Africa office in the Netherlands will issue a refund for the fridge rental.<\/p>\n

Mechanical breakdowns & repairs<\/strong><\/p>\n

15. \u00a0 \u00a0In case of a breakdown, always contact the Roadtrip Uganda office in Kampala first. You can reach us 24\/7, and our main goal is to get you on the road as fast as possible. Each problem is unique and requires a tailor-made solution. Usually, the best solution is to get the car repaired in the field. We will direct you to the nearest workshop or send a mechanic. Repairs should only be conducted with RTU\u2019s authorisation. Mechanics in remote areas may attempt to overcharge; do not pay them. RTU handles all payments.
\n16. \u00a0 \u00a0If repairs take longer than 24 hours, a replacement car will be provided from Kampala. RTU or RTA cannot be liable for refunding car rental, park fees, activities, or hotels.<\/p>\n

Accidents<\/strong><\/p>\n

17. \u00a0 \u00a0If you are involved in an accident, whether it is your fault or that of a third party, notify RTU immediately and follow their instructions.
\n18. \u00a0 \u00a0The Hirer should obtain a police report.
\n19. \u00a0 \u00a0In case of an incident involving one or more vehicle(s), details of these vehicle(s) and their driver(s) should be identified and reported, such as the driver\u2019s ID, telephone number, number plate and insurance registration number.
\n20. \u00a0 \u00a0After an accident, the Hirer should not leave the Vehicle unattended.<\/p>\n

Damage, waiver and insurance<\/strong><\/p>\n

21.\u00a0 \u00a0During the rental period, the Hirer is liable for:
\na. \u00a0 \u00a0Loss of or damage to the Vehicle
\nb. \u00a0 \u00a0Third-party property damage
\nc. \u00a0 \u00a0Third-party bodily injury<\/p>\n

22. \u00a0 \u00a0In the event of an unintended collision between the Vehicle and any other vehicle or object during the rental period that results in damage to the Vehicle or to the property of any third party, RTU waives your liability under clause 21 provided:
\na. \u00a0 \u00a0You have complied with the Terms of the Rental Agreement
\nb. \u00a0 \u00a0The cause of the accident has been determined and supported by a police report<\/p>\n

23.\u00a0 \u00a0Theft liability is waived if:
\na. \u00a0 \u00a0 The car was parked at a secured, private compound, and there were clear signs of a break-in
\nb. \u00a0 \u00a0A police report is obtained
\nc. \u00a0 \u00a0You have provided RTU with any details of the incident that RTU requests<\/p>\n

24.\u00a0 \u00a0Liability is not waived for:
\na. \u00a0 \u00a0Speeding
\nb. \u00a0 \u00a0Single-vehicle incidents or rollovers
\nc. \u00a0 \u00a0Damage from negligence (e.g., ignoring overheating warnings)
\nd. \u00a0 \u00a0Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
\ne. \u00a0 \u00a0Driving in restricted areas
\nf. \u00a0 \u00a0Water submersion or saltwater damage
\ng. \u00a0 \u00a0Using the wrong fuel<\/p>\n

25. \u00a0 \u00a0The following damages do not fall under the waiver subject to this paragraph and are not covered by insurance:
\na. \u00a0 \u00a0Tires. The vehicle is provided with quality tyres; however, a flat tyre may occur during your road trip. If this happens, the Hirer will be responsible for the cost of repairs. If a tyre is damaged beyond repair, the Hirer must replace it with a tyre that matches the same dimensions, type, and wear characteristics as the original. The Hirer will bear the cost of the replacement tyre. Always call RTU for advice and approval on suitable tyre types.
\nb. \u00a0 \u00a0Undercarriage damage (considered the result of careless driving)
\nc. \u00a0 \u00a0Window damage
\nd. \u00a0 \u00a0Camping gear damage or loss<\/p>\n

26. \u00a0 \u00a0A \u20ac1500 excess fee applies. This means that in the event of damage for which liability is waived, you’re only responsible for the first \u20ac1500; the rest is covered by the insurance. The Hirer has the option to reduce or eliminate this excess by adding one of the following insurance options:<\/p>\n
