Uganda Hotel Guide
Uganda is becoming an increasingly popular tourism destination and there are not enough quality hotels to cater for the growing demand. When travelling during the peak season (July - September, December - January), you must reserve your hotels well in advance.
When looking for a campsite or budget guesthouse, we highly recommend using the free app iOverlander. Basically, every campsite is plotted and reviewed. You don't need to book your campsite in advance.
Based on our own experience, along with other road trippers recommendations, here's an overview of some of our favourite lodges in Uganda in all price ranges, listed in alphabetical order.

Pricing
We have categorized the accommodation selection on price. Hotels listed in the budget price category do not necessarily refer to a budget experience; the service can be really good and offer outstanding value for money. Price categories are based on a double room
- Budget: up to USD 100 (B&B)
- Mid-range: between USD 100 and USD 200 (B&B)
- Semi-Luxury: more than USD 200 (often on Full Board)
Do I need to book my accommodation in advance?
Booking in advance is essential during the high season (July - September, December - January). Most lodges will ask you to make a deposit.
Booking.com and TripAdvisor are great sources of information, as is our own list below. Airbnb also has some hidden gems, especially in cities like Kampala and Jinja.
Traveling with your own tent? We highly recommend the iOverlander app, where nearly every campsite is marked and reviewed. Campsites are widely available and typically don’t require advance booking.
