The Toyota RAV4 is perfect for budget-friendly adventures. It’s sporty, compact and fuel-efficient. It’s automatic and full-time 4WD, making it easy to handle.
This compact version fits two people. You can hire the RAV4 with our ground tent and camping gear, but it can’t be outfitted with a rooftop tent or fridge. Not suitable for travel to Kidepo or Karamoja. For these itineraries, choose another vehicle from our fleet.

We travelled through Uganda for 4 weeks. At first, we didn’t plan on going with a driver-guide, but after planning, we decided to go for it. This was, without a doubt, the best decision we made for the trip. Our holiday would have been totally different without Trevor. Not only could we now use our travel days as resting days, but Trevor is also a great person to travel with and we learned, saw and did so much that would otherwise have been impossible.
We rented a toyota Rav4 with a driver. His name is Aggrey. He is an outstanding tourguide, very charismatic and funny. His knowledge about nature, animals and native people is amazing. We got to know him as an trustworthy and very honest guy. We felt very well taken care of and he actually became a good friend through this time.
We rented a Toyota RAV4 5 doors car from Roadtrip Africa, and did not have any issue on our trip. It are indeed older cars, but we received it spic and span clean, and in very well maintained condition, oil, water and radiator were all full. Self drive in Uganda is really not that hard, especially outside of the city centres.

For those excited to sleep under the stars, our Nissan Navara and Suzuki Jimny can be fitted with brand-new rooftop tents. Alternatively, you can book a ground tent with any of our cars. Both options come with a set of camping gear, including a mattress, sleeping bag, table lamp, cooking equipment, table and chairs. The large storage space in the Navara makes it the perfect car for a camping safari in Uganda.

All our drivers speak English and are experienced tour guides and bush mechanics. No stress, difficulties or long hours behind the wheel; your local driver is there to facilitate and ease your travels.
