Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s largest park in the North, a day's drive from Kampala. The park protects a large area of African Savannah intersected by the River Nile. It is named after the dramatic Murchison Falls, where the Nile River explodes violently through a narrow cleft. The park contains large herds of elephants, buffalo, giraffes and lions. A variety of lodges are available, either within the park or along its borders, offering budget-friendly and more luxury options.

Watching the mighty falls from above

Enjoy a boat safari from the Paraa Lodge jetty to the bottom of the Falls, offered by Wild Frontiers and Paraa Lodge. From there, you have the option to hike to the top of the falls, but only if you have a driver to pick you up from the top of the falls, as no service will bring you back to your car. Alternatively, you can stay on the boat and drive to the top after the boat trip. The views over the waterfalls are certainly spectacular and a must-visit.
