Spec sheet Toyota Box

Kindly note that while we ensure that our Land Cruisers are well-maintained, they are not new. You will not find a new Land Cruiser for hire in Uganda. The classic Land Cruisers you see on the roads in Uganda can be twenty years old, but don’t let this fool you. It’s for a good reason – they are extremely powerful and reliable, and built without electronics for slower travel in the bush. Keep in mind that the driving comfort on paved roads, as well as features like air conditioning and speaker quality, cannot be compared to modern cars.

The interior and tools

  • Pop-up roof: No.
  • Inverter: No.
  • Dual battery (for fridge): No. Without a dual battery, the fridge only works when the engine is running.
  • Water tank: No.
  • A/C: No. The reason is that the A/C can get blocked easily due to the bumpy and dusty roads, and it’s very challenging to fix this issue in the bush. Drive with your windows open.
  • Audio: Radio with small speakers, a USB, and an audio port. Bring your own audio cable (mini jack) to play music from your phone.
  • Boot: The boot has adequate space. We advise packing your luggage in soft duffel bags as they pack easier than suitcases.
  • Rooftop tent: This vehicle can support one rooftop tent. You can turn the Box into a fully equipped camper for an additional fee. Check out the camping gear for hire.
  • Tools: Wheel spanner, towing rope, spade, jumper cables, high lift jack and small jack.
  • Extras: Roadmap and Driving in Uganda manual. Roadtrippers who book a tour receive a planned route with driving directions and tips along the way.
