Maji Moto
Maji Moto is a natural hot spring located about an hour from the Sekenani Gate of the Masai Mara. The spring is an important water source for the local Maasai community and their cattle.
The camps are run by Maasai hosts. Accommodation is simple but well-maintained, offering a comfortable and authentic bush experience.

Things to do
Your stay includes guided nature walks, a visit to the hot springs, and an introduction to Maasai traditions and daily life. You can also take part in Maasai warrior training and learn more about local customs and culture.
To: Laikipia
Approx. 7 hours | 300 km
First, follow the C57 to Nakuru. After Nakuru, the region becomes pretty remote, so it’s recommended to refuel in Nakuru. Then follow either the B5 or C83 to Rumuriti town. From Rumuriti, it’s 45 minutes to Ol Maisor Camp, of which the last 30 minutes are on a rougher dirt road.
To: Lake Naivasha
Approx. 4 – 5 hours | 178 km
From Lake Naivasha, drive towards Narok, the main gateway town to the Masai Mara. Narok is a good place to refuel and stock up on supplies before continuing your journey.
From Narok, follow the C12 towards the Masai Mara. Near the small village of Bakitabu, leave the C12 and branch left, where you’ll see the signpost to your camp at Maji Moto. Google Maps may suggest taking the C11, but avoid this route. The road is very rough, can be hard on the car and will take considerably longer.
To: Lake Nakuru
Approx. 4–5 hours | 175 km
From Maji Moto, make your way back to the C12 near the small village of Bakitabu and follow this road towards Narok. Do not take the C11 if Google Maps suggests this route, as it is very rough, hard on the car, and will take considerably longer.
Narok is a good place to fuel up and stock up on supplies before continuing your journey to Nakuru.
To: Masai Mara
Approx. 1 hour to Sekenani Gate | 62 km
From Maji Moto, drive back towards the C12 near the small village of Bakitabu. Once you reach the C12, continue towards the Masai Mara.
Depending on the location of your accommodation, continue towards either Sekenani or Talek Gate, or navigate directly to your accommodation if it is located outside the reserve. Google Maps may suggest alternative routes, but we recommend sticking to the C12 as much as possible, as some of the smaller roads in this area can be very rough and take considerably longer.
To: Nairobi
Approx. 5 hours | 197 km
From Maji Moto, make your way back to the C12 and follow this road towards Narok. Do not take the C11 if Google Maps suggests this route, as it is very rough, not suitable for the car and will take considerably longer.
Narok is a good place to fuel up and stock up on supplies before continuing your journey (in case still needed). From Narok, follow the B3 towards Maai Mahiu. Here, turn right onto the A8 towards Nairobi. The final part of the journey takes you up the escarpment, with some last beautiful views along the way, before continuing into Nairobi.
