Things to do
- Unwind by the sea – Soft sand, turquoise water and very few other travellers. This is slow travel at its best.
- Explore with your lodge – Lodges can arrange snorkelling, surfing, village walks or boat trips. Just check what’s on offer when you arrive.

- It’s a rough dirt track through no-man’s land.
- Expect about 6 hours of driving, plus extra time for the ferry crossing at the Bevoay River.
- A dam is under construction, but not yet usable (understandable considering the remote location). Instead, you’ll cross via local treetrunk ferries.
Tip
- Ferry fees depend on your negotiating skills, but should not exceed €60 per car.
- Be prepared for some hustle at the ferry — locals may try to sell items or offer ferry services. Don’t worry, they are friendly, just persistent!
